If you are planning your Newcastle or Hunter Valley Wedding in the middle of a global pandemic, our hearts go out to you. Whether you’re trying to navigate through the ever changing restrictions, re-plan your postponed celebration or are just dipping a tentative toe in the wedding planning waters, the uncertainty is ongoing and overwhelming.
If we reflect back on 2020 many couples had no option but to postpone their celebrations to 2021 (which has filled lots of dates) now with the current restrictions the postponement journey has again commenced, so if you’re planning a wedding for 2022 or 2023 you need to LOCK DOWN your wedding date now. (pun intended) RUN don’t walk…
HERE ARE OUR 5 TIPS
1. Book Your Venue
Some things to consider when booking your venue is how the previous/current restrictions affect the celebration. The restriction causing couples the most stress is the 4sqm rule (this significantly reduces the venues ability to accomodate large numbers of guests and is dependant on the footprint of the venue), so when booking your venue ensure that your guest list will align with the 4sqm restriction. This will mean you don’t have the stress of cutting down your guest list or relocating to another venue. If you can host your ceremony and location at the same venue that will ensure your “stress free” celebration. Outdoor ceremonies also allow guests to be spaced and adhere to social distancing.
2. Book Local Vendors
There are lots of advantages to booking local wedding vendors. Not only are they familiar with the venue, you can also save on travel costs, BUT most importantly your vendors will still be able to attend your celebration if neighbouring regions are in lockdown (just like the situation we have right now where the Greater Sydney Region is unable to leave their region).
3. Live Stream
If there’s one thing we have all learnt through this pandemic (besides sanitising and overstocking toilet paper) it’s the power of technology. Be creative and invest straight up in Live Streaming. Don’t let state, international borders or illness stop your loved ones from being part of your celebration.Live Streaming is when the streamed video is sent over the internet in real time without being recorded and stored allowing your family and friends who are unable to attend your wedding to watch on and enjoy the celebration.
4. Check The Fine Print
Before booking any vendors ask them about their postponement and cancellation options in their contracts. Don’t be shy about asking questions, none of us thought we would be back here again! And if you find yourself having tore-schedule your Hunter Valley wedding due to Covid restrictions you must know what the process is.
5. Fall In LOVE With Your Backup Plan
All weddings have some form of a back-up plan, (what if it rains? is the most common) so don’t let your COVID wedding planning fall short, look at options available to work through restrictions. Everyone wants to be a part of your Love Story but being safe has to be the No.1 priority. Plan a strategy that allows you to do both.
