The Popeye is located on the Torrens River, Adelaide South Australia.
We operate from two landings.
The main landing is located in Elder Park, the wooden jetty is on the water, sitting near the rotunda and The Festival Center.
The Zoo Landing is located just off Frome Road, down the stairs closest to the city side of Albert Bridge.
There’s really only a few ways to see Adelaide from the River Torrens and we have two of them. On board the Popeye and paddling along in one of our paddle boats.
Our boats have been enjoyed for generations as the Popeye first started in 1935.
The “Popeye” boats are privately owned recreational ferries that operate on the lake between Elder Park and the Adelaide Zoo. The first boat was launched on the Torrens Lake by Gordon Watts in 1935. It was a 25-foot (7.6 m) boat, built on the banks of the River Torrens to hold up to 20 passengers and named Popeye 1.
We’ve since upgraded from our 1935 vessels into three fibreglass Popeye vessels. We can host up to 49 passengers for a variety of occasions, with free floor space and an unlimited amount of set-up options. Create your dream function on board our light filled Popeye’s, share special private moments in nature, while still getting the best city views within the CBD. Find all of our hire information HERE.
