Pros: the location is excellent. The lobby bar is nice. Cons: I was not aware the lagoon pool would not be accessible upon booking. Going by the reviews I have since read, there has been 'maintenence' to the pool area for at least 18 months. My room looked down on the pool. There is absolutely no maintenance being done, it's just empty pools with the grass removed and shade covers in disrepair. So my question, if management can respond, what exactly is being done, and when? There was absolutely no work done in the 5 days I was there. A little transparency would go a long way to your guests. The community pool does not cut it, with only 1/2 of a 1/2 lane (so 1/4 of a full lane) available for leisure swimming, and no spare lounges when I attended. The up and down escalators were out of order the whole 5 days. The lift was out of order this morning. The buffet breakfast was standard - overrated and overpriced, but a good selection. The coffee machine was also not working properly the first morning I was there. The staff at reception, while polite, all showed some disinterest in their approach and response to legitimate enquiries. I was not asked how my stay was at checkout. I will stay elsewhere on my return. I would like to hear from management about the status of the pool, and what is being done, and more importantly, when. Edit 3/12/25: Thank you Rendezvous for the response. Unfortunately you did not answer my question about what specifically is being done to the lagoon pool, and when. Also, as mentioned, despite having access to the community pool, when I visited there were no lounges available and only 1/4 lane was free for 'leisure' swimming. This is not really a viable alternative option for your guests.
Hi Naomi, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We appreciate your comments regarding your stay and understand your concerns. The Lagoon Pool has been closed while we carry out necessary refurbishment works and we acknowledge that the current appearance does not reflect the final outcome. While the work may not have been visible during your stay, significant planning and preparation have been underway to ensure it meets the standards our guests expect. In the meantime, all our guests have complimentary access to the nearby Scarborough Beach Pool and we are happy to provide beach towels. We also note your comments regarding the lift, escalators, breakfast, and guest interactions. Your feedback will be shared with the relevant teams so we can continue improving the experience for our guests. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future once improvements are complete. Kind regards, The Rendezvous Team

For an iconiclly situated hotel with some great history, which I have been to many times since my first visit in 1994, it's gone down hill. It feels cold and empty and lacking the buzz warmth and oppulance and atmosphere of days gone by. Cheap wine glasses, lack of colour, paper menus etc etc, basically could do better. Don't compete with the drossy loud bars around but set the standard and raise the bar. And raise the quality of the food. I could do better doing a home cooked meal...but that's not the point or the answer.
Dear Nige, Thank you for your feedback and for your loyalty since 1994. We’re sorry your recent visit didn’t reflect the warmth, atmosphere and quality you remember. Your comments about ambiance, presentation and food have been shared with our teams, and we’re committed to making improvements. We hope to welcome you back for an experience that better reflects the standards you expect. Warm regards, Nikol P,Rooms Division Manager

Booked a room there about 2 weeks ago, when there neither escalators nor their elevators to reception were in service. Room service took over an hour to arrive, and was served what seemed like packaged food. Our rooms were not cleaned throughout the day. We had no fresh towels because of this. Tried to call reception 6 times to grab some, and no answer. Waited an hour and still couldn't get through. We ended up going down there ourselves and still had to wait in a 20 minute line for towels. We were called by reception twice, and told that we couldn't use their TV as it was "Too loud" - one of the times was at 5pm, the volume was set to 30, the second time was at 8pm and the volume was only 20... I attempted to confront reception about this, as this is supposed to be a facility we can use, and I was approached by the rude reception manager who accused me of "breaching my contract" by using it. I asked her multiple times to show me where my contract had been breached, to which she couldn't do. The manager was never able to provide any proof or evidence to back her claim of us breaching contract. I had paid a lot of money to be able to use these facilities, and as I tried to explain that to her, instead of listening to me, she threatened to kick me out of the hotel, and walked away midst conversation. Her behaviour and attitude was absolutely disgusting. As a manager, she should be trying to make every guest feel welcome, and I was treated the complete opposite. Not an ounce of kindness was shown from her, and it seems other guests were treated as a priority over us. Waited 10 days after my visit and didn't receive my deposit back. I had to call the hotel myself, only to find they hadn't released the payment until my call. Everything about this hotel is atrocious. I would not recommend to anyone.
Dear Amber, We are extremely sorry for the experience you had during your stay. The issues you encountered, from the unavailable escalators and elevators, delayed room service, and uncleaned rooms to the lack of response from reception, are completely unacceptable. We also apologise for the way you were treated by our team regarding the TV and the misunderstanding over the contract. The behaviour you describe does not reflect the standards we expect from our staff, and we are taking your feedback very seriously. Additionally, the delay in returning your deposit is not how we aim to operate, and we regret the frustration it caused. Your feedback has been escalated to senior management to ensure these issues are addressed and do not happen again. We understand how disappointing this was and hope that, if given another chance, we can provide a stay that truly reflects the service and hospitality we aim to deliver. Warm regards, Nikol P, Rooms Division Manager
I have booked for four nights in December 23 can I pay for the bill now or do I have to pay on leaving
Yes, They take credit card details on booking and both, you pay on arrival and sort out the extras when you leave. Like room service, breakfast is top notch well worth the $ 20.oo each I think. Cheers
Can you book for a small group of non residential guests for breakfast at Straits please
You don't need to be a guest to dine here
Do they hv parking
Heaps of parking really close by
What is the name of the products in the hotel bathrooms.
Appelles Apothecary & Lab

Yes. Most definitely
can I get a gift voucher for dinner for two at the restaurant?
I think you can, they are so helpful at the front Desk.
can my husband get redused parking on his uk disabled badge
There is a reduced parking fee for hotel residents. Standard fee is $47 per 24hr period. Hotel residents pay $20 per 24hr period. But you have to scan a bar code at reception every day and put in your room number. For the price you pay for the room you'd think hotel residents get free parking but no.
Is the lobby bar casual clothes?
Yes all very casual
How many restaurants and bars has the hotel
The hotel also has a myriad of venues under the hotel including cafes, james squire pub and nandos
I have booked two rooms for 24th and 25th December. Is breakfast included?
Not unless you've booked breakfast with it...
