I wasn't happy with my previous dentist and found Bon Dent. I was so impressed from the beginning as they explained every bit of detail. There experience showed from start to finish. I've never been so happy with the finish product. I can smile again 😁. Wouldn't hesitate to nominate them to someone else. Thanks again team. Fantastic work 👏 👍 👌

How long does it take to get used to wearing dentures?
The length of time it takes to adapt to new dentures can vary depending on several factors including the individuals age, the condition of their gums and oral tissues and the type of dentures they have received. In general, it can take several weeks for the mouth to adjust to new dentures and over time initial discomfort should subside.
When do I need to replace my dentures?
In general, dentures can last anywhere from 5 to 10 years. However, you should consult with your dental prosthetist for advice on when to replace your dentures based on your individual needs. This can vary from person to person depending on several factors such as wear and tear, change in the shape of your mouth and gums and oral health. It is recommended to have your dentures regularly checked.
How do I clean and care for my dentures?
Cleaning your dentures regularly is essential to maintain their appearance and prevent the build up of bacteria and plaque. After removing, rinse your dentures thoroughly with warm running water. With a soft bristle brush and mild soap gently brush all surfaces of the dentures, including the teeth, gums and the roof of the mouth. Soak your dentures in a denture cleanser for the recommended time on the package. Store your dentures in a clean dry container. Don't forget to clean your mouth also, brushing your gums, tongue and the roof of your mouth.
Can dentures be worn while sleeping?
It is generally not recommended to wear dentures overnight as it can cause various problems such as gum irritation, fungal infections and bone loss. Wearing dentures for extended periods of time can also cause discomfort, as the gums and bones need time to rest and recover from the pressure of the dentures. It is important to remove and clean your dentures daily, and to give your mouth a break by taking your dentures out at night.
Can dentures be repaired if they break or become damaged?
Yes, dentures can be repaired if they break or become damaged. The type and extent of damage will determine the best course of action for repair. Many simple repairs can be done in the same day if brought in before 10am. Dentures don't have to be remade if they are dropped and broke, a simple repair can do the trick. However, if dentures have broken while you are eating, further investigation needs to be made as this can be a result of ill fitting dentures. Either way, we can help! Many patients choose to have a second set of dentures in case their denture breaks or becomes damaged, it's a good way to have a spare (especially if you're travelling)!
How long does a simple repair take?
Simples repairs can be done in the same day if brought in by 10am. Depending on the type of break, more time may be needed. Our friendly staff can guide you accordingly when you bring your repair in, no appointment required! In many cases, people choose to have a second set made after their denture breaks so they always have a spare!
Can dentures be used to replace just a few missing teeth or do they have to replace all of them?
Dentures can be used to replace one tooth or all teeth and anything in between. Dentures designed to replace a few missing teeth are known as partials and those designed to replace all missing teeth are known as full dentures.
Can dentures be claimed through private health?
This depends on the type of cover and extras you have. We advise that you consult your insurance provider for accurate and up-to-date information about denture coverage under your specific policy. If you are covered, we have a HiCAPS machine available for your convenience allowing us to process your health insurance claims on the spot, saving you time and effort.
