Silkari Mirage at Newport

Our stay here coming from Qld was for 2 nights as we had a wedding to attend. The Mirage was in a state of RENOVATION, and was rediculously difficult to park Rubbish on the floors ,furniture out the front skip bins and noise. This RENOVATION was to be completed 2 mths ago it seems every review is in defence of Our RENOVATION. However sighting the GREEN shrek swimming pool was the last straw.How could you offer a pool that was unable to be used on Dec 5th and 6th in 36 plus temp.On having this conversation with front desk man apologies I said didn't cut it ,he replied,well it would take 10 days to make the pool available. I laughed and said no way ,we owned a swim school.,chemical correct for this 24 hours Max. He was defensive.Wish we looked at the other reviews.Nothing nice to say is the general review about The Mirage at Newport Oh the view is stunning.

Started out as a disaster. Arrived to find the room had no disabled facilities even though I had booked a wheelchair accessible room. Minor panic attack before the manager sought two grab rails for the bathroom which were essential for me. They also basically deconstructed what I think was a new shower recess which was totally useless for me. Could not fit through the glass partition. Unfortunately, absolutely no access to food of any kind. A trip across the road in my wheelchair was to say the least precarious. Thank God for Uber Eats. Could not leave the hotel at all, as moving my car would have lost me the only suitable car spot. The room had obviously been refurbished (the carpet was new for one) Thanks to the manager, what would have been an impossible trip to attend a wedding, turned out to be all right. Good luck to the next disabled traveller, as they now will have the appropriate facilities except for the wash basin in the bathroom which was more suited to Andre the Giant.

Great location, friendly staff. Most rooms renovated and fresh. Nice comfy beds,huge TV,lovely pool to swim in and Newport Arms next door. Win win.
